I have worked professionally as a Art Director in New York City and Seattle for over 19 years. Prior to this, I worked several years in a wood shop building European pine furniture. Through my professional career as a designer, I have maintained my interest in product design and am always tinkering with new ideas and designs.
My professional background is the foundation for my working style. I understand the design and production process as well as the importance of creating strong client relationships. My experience at problem solving along with knowledge of materials, building techniques, and eye for detail enable me to create unique furniture designs. I am influenced by and often integrate elements from illustration, photography, typography and graphic design to my design and typically work with veneered plywood (walnut, maple, mahogany, bamboo, birch) as well as other materials such as aluminum, acrylic and canvas.
I launched Modgrain in 2009. Have a look... I hope you like what I've been up to. Drop me a line if you're interested additional product information.
