Here’s a cool custom application of the secure iPad stand.

From the original post: Over the period of a few weeks we were able to get things worked out. Part of the project included me sending my mount to a friends CNC machine to cut away excess material on the mount. The result is a great looking and really functional mount. I love the metal pins that hold the iPad secure. The mount also allows for rotation of the iPad so depending on the content I am reading I can change the display. The build quality and finish are really nice and feel like furniture not like a cheap book stand or plastic stand. Best of all the material has an organic quality and the aluminum pins compliment the aluminum arm of the monitor stand and iPad body.

This wood iPad2 stand has a modern design style, featuring Apple plywood and aluminum bracket that can be mounted to a wall or simply sit on your desk. Secure iPad Stand

Due to it’s popularity and several orders from professional photographers to companies that needed a solution for their trade show exhibit, I have decided to offer this secure iPad stand solution to everyone!

This iPad stand has the same modern design style as our standard iPad stand, but with the addition of aluminum rods that slide through the frame to overlay the edges of the iPad (and c-clips lock the rods in place to further prevent easy removal from the stand). Custom iPad Pedestal Part 2

Modgrain just completed a custom iPad Pedestal for LOUD Technologies Inc. They are using it at the NAMM conference – in Anaheim, CA. Below are a few photos of the finished piece. The pedestal features 4 iPad stands, a black base, and a natural maple top. In a previous post you can see some of the production photos.

Modgrain recently shipped a iPad stand to to Woodinville, WA. The buyer (LOUD Technologies Inc.) loved it so much that they contacted me about doing a custom piece…. and ultimately commissioned Modgrain to create and build a custom iPad Pedestal for their upcoming tradeshow NAMM – in Anaheim, CA.

Thanks to the good people at LOUDtech (they are very nice), It was a very efficient and simple process. A few emails, a couple discussions a a preliminary estimate and a quick design, including 3D drawings and animation (see below). Also, below are some of the process photos so far. I’ll update them as the project progresses.

This is the first project that I have been challenged with creating a “ebony” like finish (not included in this 3D animation). And, I’m happy to say that after 3 coats of water based black die mixed with India Ink and 2 coats (so far…. a couple more to come) of a ECO friendly satin topcoat, that it’s looking really nice. I can’t wait to mount the top and 4 custom, secure iPad stands. It’s going to be sweet!

iPad Stand in Nike Flagship Store

Kinetic Singapore recently contacted Modgrain and ordered a iPad stand for a client. Turns out the stand is being used for a interactive kiosk in the Nike Flagship Store in Singapore. Kinetic had to figure out a way to keep users from fiddling with the menu button on the iPad. They came up with a fantastic design solution. A custom fit acrylic frame was placed over the outside edges of the iPad and tucked nicely into the stand. It would be nice if Apple would make a way to run the iPad in a kiosk mode… where users can only have access to a given app. Until then, this acrylic frame/cover is a perfect solution. Thanks goes out to Joe at Kinetic for sourcing Modgrain’s iPad stand for his client at Nike!

Customized iPad Stand

A photographer in Florida, Manolo Doreste – In Focus Studios contacted me with a specific design requirement. He is planning to use 2 or 3 iPads at tradeshow type events where he will present his photography and video work. He needed a way to secure the iPad into the stand. Here is my design and prototyping exploration. On the last photo, I am considering adding a c-clip style locking washer… that will prevent anyone from slipping the rods up and out. This is a beautifully designed modern wood iPad stand that features an aluminum bracket that can be mounted to a wall or simply sit on your desk. This is a great stand, especially if you’re looking for a hand made, unique and contemporary design style that is way cooler than the metal and plastic stands currently available. The viewing angle is 45 degrees and can be mounted for vertical or horizontal iPad presentation. The design integrates a thumb knob on the back for easy adjustments to either viewing angle. There is a 1 inch zinc coated flat bolt countersunk in the center of the final stand that is not present in the above photos. The design allows for easy access for your USB connector.
